KWA SR-12
Please help Me!!! my kwa SR-12 is having some problems. When i shoot too fast the fuse burns out. I dont think its the motor height because i spent a long time perfecting it. Also the motor gets warm when i use it for only a short time.

Re: KWA SR-12
It could also be the shimming. It's not just the motor height that makes for a gun that runs hot. As much as KWA wants you to believe it, they are not shimmed, and still need the same maintenance like every other AEG.

Thanks, it is possible for me to shim my own gears or is it pretty difficult

Re: KWA SR-12
It's not hard if you take your time, it just usually takes a long time. Dominum just posted a video about shimming, and I've got a write up on it. I'll link Dom's video below, and the link to mine is in my signature.

Re: KWA SR-12
What battery are you using?
Re: KWA SR-12
Call me and i will troubleshoot it for you (well, eliminate what I can via phone, and maybe find the cause without having to open it). 803-609-7681.
*Edit: He called me up and I eliminated a few things that it could have been, and since he said he had a friend coming over in a few days that was knowledgeable I advised him on several other things to tell his friend to do to elimate various possible causes. Tobindan, let us know what your friend finds out.

Re: KWA SR-12
Certainly try a 20 or 25 amp fuse, 15 amp fuses will blow under lots of set ups, even if nothing is wrong with the gun.

Re: KWA SR-12
The problem is most likely isolated to the Supply Wire.
I had a problem with a KWA m16 supply wire once.
As part of my trouble shooting I removed the Supply Wire completely and plugged my battery into the gearbox Wire Harness tamiya connector.
Everything worked just fine and my trigger response was much faster as a by-product.
This ruled out any electrical issues with the stock Wire Harness and attached tamiya connector.
You can do the same for the sake of trouble shooting.
With your battery, you will need a large male to small female tamiya adapter
In my case, a higher amp fuse did not solve my Supply Wire Issue though you should definitely try one to see.
Hopefully that will solve your problem.
Your battery is fine.
I have two 9.6v / 4200mah batteries I have been running in my KWA's for years now with no issues.

Re: KWA SR-12
His gun worked fine prior to some guy adjusting his motor height at a game, meaning any variable that could not have changed between correct performance and this issue is very unlikely to have caused the problem.

Re: KWA SR-12
If his motor height was adjusted, and then this happened, that means it's the motor height. Why I didn't not come to this conclusion first, I do not know.

Re: KWA SR-12
I had the benefit of a long conversation via phone, in which I discerned what variables were altered. Unfortunately it may not be as simple as motor height, but his buddy and he are both running various tests I prescribed to eliminate possible problems one by one. Shimming, static wiring, the battery, amd other such variables (having been unchanged) are highly unlikely to be the problem. Motor height is the obvious answer, but from what I could tell over the phone it may not be that. I then assumed a wire had gotten between the base of the grip and motor, and was artificially mounting it too high. We eliminated that. I then assumed the space disk between the motor mounting set screw and motor was missing, so that the set screw was pressing on the axle end... but it's a KWA, so it uses a large flathead screw that cannot do that. I then assumed the wiring may have bent in a manner that tightened the motor against the wall of the grip so that it was always mounted to high, regardless of the mounting screw. I eliminated this possibility over the phone as well. I still believe there is some reason it is not mounted properly, whether it be wires in the way, or something else.

Re: KWA SR-12
He had called me earlier, so I just called him back. He was calling to let me know that he followed my instructions on putting the motor back in again (make sure it easily moves up and down with the push of your thumb before screwing on the base plate, hold the wires taught while sticking the motor in so they to not become tangled, make sure the wires stay out of the way of the base plate and the motor when you screw it on, make sure that the round part of the bottom of the motor sits inside of the "hole" left by removing the large mounting height adjustment screw, etc.) and that this time it worked and is functioning properly again. Though this does not tell us specifically what precise issue caused the motor to be mounted improperly, it does prove that it was in fact a motor mounting problem of some kind caused by something difficult to discern. Good news is, the problem is solved.

Re: KWA SR-12
Dominum was right. After a couple tries of putting the motor back in it started working again. BTW im not as stupid as some of u think, i know to check the motor height. And the 15amp fuse worked perfectly fine even though im using such a big battery. And im also getting the gears shimmed and i will make sure that the gearbox is mounted in perfectly so that i will not encounter this problem again. Thanls for all the help!!!

Re: KWA SR-12
One more question, i can tell that did not bend the clips but the black wire that attaches to the motor slips off too easily, its not a serious problem but is there anything i can try to make it grip on even harder?
