The way the AUG is designed you can have an M16 length barrel with a standard rail or in about 20 seconds flat have an M4 length barrel with a completely customized outer barrel. Also if you so desire you can spend a few extra dollars and swap out the stock V3 shell for a quick change spring V3 shell and get even more possibilities just as fast. :D
Speaking of that, have you been able to find a v3 gearbox with that, just the shell and the spring guide? I been looking around for that

I forgot to mention that the UAR has a quick spring change system, and also features a quick barrel change system. Compatible with aftermarket M4 barrels means you can basically use anything you want.

Unfortunately no but I havent been looking very hard either. What sites have you visited and checked to see of they have just a v3 shell with the quick change spring system? I know that its going to be a hard piece to find :/

My teamate titan owns a uar and it is by far one of the best 200$ stock guns I have ever seen. V3 gb yes plz. ak hop up unit, quick change spring system, uses m4 mags though some take slight modification. Easy disassembly, good weight, very comfortable and small. Cons: Stock battery space take stick types, however battery bags can easily be used, some m4 mags have to be slightly modified, the selector switch feels wierd and slightly long trigger pull (however titan has modded it to a very small trigger pull). Over all great gun I have debated many times over getting it. However as fn2k owner it is still my #1 bullpup pick.

Interesting. It does sound like a very well thought out platform.

For some reason, every time I see it, I imagine it being sub machine gun sized, which I don't like.

well with a very small custom made silencer titan easily fitted a 509mm barrel into it and knowing u skywalker if u had one it would have a huge mock suppressor.

No, I'd have a silencer! Mock suppressors are not foam filled, thus they don't suppress, they simply mock. :P

I'm to the point in owning airsoft guns that I can't settle for one to be just stock externally; so before I buy anything, I have to have an idea of what I would do to modify it. I'm not sure what I would do to modify one of these things, without holding one for a while.

I thought about a Magpul PDR as a dmr platform, but I don't see any way of extending the outer barrel or attaching a suppressor... Skywalker, thoughts?

If there aren't threads, threads can be put on it. Or, you could do a slip-over style suppressor

Looks like the flash hider/ threads are recessed into the gun.

Pfft, slings are only for people that like slings.

The box mags look dumb, but are needed if you feel like pissing ammo all over the place. Sometimes, I do.
