Update. I have tried different springs to no avail. I've actually switched to a Lonex GB shell and now the springs aren't breaking, but the AR latch just isn't working at all. I have tried different ones and have tried filing it down to mesh properly, but nothing.

Can you take some pictures of your ARL? How you've modified it, how it looks on the bevel.

Hmm. That's not exactly what I did to mine, I flattened mine more at the tip of it. I'm at work right now , but when I get home tonight I'll take it apart and take some pics. I'll also try using another AR latch and make it look more like the one in that picture.

Ok so the top one was my first attempt. The bottom is the revised one after viewing your picture. Does it look OK? I didn't have any PCD files on hand so I was stuck using a steel file which made this a real PITA.

If I had to guess, your lip might still break. It needs to be flatter, basically, a 90 degree angle to fit well with the bevel.
