Re: New Field
Tons of space, 19 foot ceilings so multiple levels can be done, could even lease out some of the space for extra income.
Investors, anyone? We could start a kickstarter.

Re: New Field
Naw, no multilevel, buttt good ventilation and fans can be done.
Also section off a part and run a store out of it.

Re: New Field
Yeah we definitely didn't plan on spending 1.9 million lol. But that building is very interesting, I will have to get in touch with the real estate company and see if the owner might be interested in some sort of long term lease deal. And if anyone is seriously interested in investing in a new field venture send me a p.m. on here and we might can hammer something out. But keep the ideas coming.

And if anything gets going, I know many of us would be willing to help set up and or build things, and I'd love to work there.

Re: New Field
If you could set up a field similar to those awesome ones in California, you would have one of the best fields in the South East. They have entire small villages constructed to play in. But I have a feeling that may be too expensive...
If you make a field, go for some form of large scale CQB. I personally crave CQB play, but no place around here caters to it well. Battlecats in Anderson is just way too small and cramped to be a great CQB arena. And the fields like Redfox and PBC are nothing close to a true CQB experience. CQB is the one thing that could set you apart from the competition. But I will be honest, if a good CQB arena is made and shared with paintballers, that means airsofters are going to be getting very messy, and that's not attractive.

Re: New Field
VERY few paintballers want to play CQB either, unless you consider X-Ball (the inflatable bunkers) CQB.

Re: New Field
Mwuhahaha.
I say a warehouse with land on the outside. Much like how Wellford was set up, but on a larger scale. Then you can get a combination of styles of gameplay. Don't even try and do a CQB only style place, because it will be very hard to distinguish it from Battlecats. And from most of what I've seen, CQB airsoft is only a small step above laser tag
... Yes, I'm sure it is done better in some areas of the country, but in SC, we don't have the player base to make it anything more than that.
The larger (and higher) the warehouse, the better! Obviously, for cost reasons, I would stay away from trying to construct anything. But who doesn't like the idea of a warehouse large enough for some type of perimeter catwalk system, with windows to shoot out of, or a few 2-3 story towers inside... everyone likes to play as a sniper. And not even just as a sniper, but adding the Z axis into a firefight is so rare, who wouldn't be excited about that.
If you tell the airsofting world that there is a large, indoor/outdoor field in the upstate, they will come play.

Re: New Field
CQB can be like laser tag, but if you have 60,000+ square feet, not as much. So a LARGE CQB only facility could work. Not a piddly 10,000 square foot place like battle cats though.

Re: New Field
New ideas bump.
Re: New Field
Right now SC has more available airsoft fields than it can use. As far as an investment/business, the math doesn't make sense. Every airsoft field in SC is either a paintball field that is run as a business for that purpose as well, and thus survives; or it's private land that was already owned by someone, and then airsoft was added as an afterthought for some extra money. Not trying to be Mr. Stickinthemud, but you deserve a fair appraisal of the practical situation.
(someone may have already said this, if so my bad, I only read the OP)

Re: New Field
Hey guys thanks for all the input. We're making some final decisions and then hopefully start looking for a location. I'll make another post when we get ready to start setting up the field and hopefully a few local people on here can come out and see what they think. Feel free to keep posting ideas if you want.
