SQA, Sept. 14th
Re: SQA, Sept. 14th
I probably had more fun at this skirmish than any other I've been to. This is most likely due to a couple of things, A) I enjoyed the spur of the moment/casual play atmosphere. I go for that type of thing. B) the variety in the terrain and gameplay was fun. But mostly because C) after countless hours of modding/upgrading/tinkering my rifle is finally performing like a boss!!!
As Dominum said earlier, I was creeping around the back edge of the trenches when all of a sudden I see his cute little head pop up over a pile of brush, so I sent one flying. I saw him tinkering around for a minute after I thought I had hit him in the head, but I didn't see a deadrag. So I sent another one at him. Well come to find out I just didn't see him pull out his deadrag the first time, (which he did). So I ended up shooting him in the head twice. Sorry Dominum.
After this I was holding down my little corner, trying to make it possible for my teammates to advance. I had two on my 12 and one particularly annoying fellow trying to flank me on my 9.
Well, after I had gotten a few more kills off, this darkly clad fellow sends one flying and nails me in the leg. I called hit, stood up, and saw it was skywalker. And thus began the vendetta that I eventually completed by the end of the day. Like I told him. If I had to lose a sniper battle, I would prefer it be him or Starfolder.
The whole day was pretty much this way, good solid work on my teammates part allowed me to do some work, while they moved up and secured things inside my MED.
Romba, I'm the "UAR guy now"?!?!?
Where's the love?
BIG shout out to team FOX, who we ran with for most of the day. Solid work all you guys.

Re: SQA, Sept. 14th
There was too much underbrush for me to even move all day.
.......
As much as I would like to talk about shooting the two other guys with DMRs, and Gambler... there are other things I want to bring up with my post game chat. And yes, overall, my tone is pretty sour.
Star, I am also surprised at the lack of complaints regarding organization. The afternoon was slooooow, but you know that. I'm glad you're taking some responsibility...
However, I can't put it all on you. I saw a large number of "respectable" airsoft players just chatting away as you were trying to get games going. Admins, Kory's friends... all you guys could've stepped in and helped Kory out, or at least, kept your mouths shut. I am specifically referring to the time between the last two scenarios. If your organization name is on the game, then at a minimum, be quiet, ... maybe try and hush up some of the other players, or even just ask Star what you could do to help. I saw each one of you, and many more, disrespecting Star as he was trying to explain scenarios to all of us. Consider this tough love... You guys are all better than that. Lets see it next time.
About the cold field... I think its a bad idea. If someone does get hit in the eye, crap is going to hit the fan, regardless of "Well, he was SUPPOSED to have his mag removed"
****I've removed this section. Let it be noted that an AOSC admin was blatantly violating the safety rules of all players. If you missed the drama that it was, then too bad for you.****
I still have fun while playing airsoft, almost more fun than anything else I do with my time,... But every game, I get more and more worried that someone's dumb actions will strip me of the hobby that I love so much. And I am perfectly willing to be an asshole if it prevents that from happening.

Don't be offended, it's a sick-ass gun. I was trying to find out your actual call sign but I had no luck.Titan wrote: Romba, I'm the "UAR guy now"?!?!?

Re: SQA, Sept. 14th
This was absolutely unacceptable. I was standing not 15ft from Gerb when Cleric thought it prudent to shoot him not once, but twice, with all around obviously sitting there with eye-pro off!!Skywalker wrote:Finally, worst of all... This needs to be addressed. CLERIC: I saw you pull a pistol, and fire it at someone (Gerb) WHILE WE WERE IN COLD FIELD STATE. WHAT THE F***. YOU ARE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THIS ORGANIZATION, AND YOU CLEARLY DISREGARD THE RULES OF SAFETY FOR ALL PLAYERS ON THE FIELD!?
I immediately put my mask back on and asked Dom to remedy the situation, that it was unacceptable for anyone, especially a rep. Not sure if Dom heard me or not.
I was not going to call names, I was just going to say a representative, but since Skywalker has this out in the open I will back him fully saying this should NEVER happen. It is simply inexcusable and it's that level of negligent behavior that simply cannot be tolerated. Cleric, you should know better.
On another note, I do not smoke, therefore I do not think it fair for anyone to smoke in a large crowd of people, in scenario, or around anyone else not wishing to smoke. I left the "meet-and-greet" early and headed back to the vehicles because I simply could not get anywhere around the players without breathing second-hand smoke.
Edit: Removing the more personal information and moving it to a PM.

It may have been improper for me to do that; but I feel that the problem will be remedied much more swiftly if it is made public like this.crossfire876 wrote: I was not going to call names, I was just going to say a representative, but since Skywalker has this out in the open I will back him fully saying this should NEVER happen..
Thank you for your support, and to the others who have PM'd me. I did have to think for some time before posting my comments. I'm glad that the immediate reaction is not simply that I'm throwing a fit, but that I'm voicing some serious complaints and issues that need to be dealt with.

To return the favor of backing me up, I can agree that the smoking does seem quite inconsiderate. If we have minors on the field especially, we need to keep the smoking away from them, and quite honestly, away from all.crossfire876 wrote:On another note, I do not smoke, therefore I do not think it fair for anyone to smoke in a large crowd of people, in scenario, or around anyone else not wishing to smoke. Anytime there is a safety briefing, info/announcement, and I notice chatter amongst the ranks, I make an effort to quiet them, but that's if I notice it. Apparently I didn't Saturday.
Lastly, taking mags out and eye protection off between skirmishes and scenarios is not something I advocate and do as a hosting rep. Simply leaving eyepro on is a simple solution to the problem and I suggest eyepro should always stay on while on the field, regardless if game play is over.
While there was only one hosting admin, there were other reps present and playing on the field. If at anytime you have an issue with rule breaking, another player, etc., call for a rep/admin, and we will stop what we're doing and see what the issue is. I've taken myself out of play numerous occasions to address problems. Nothing can be done after the game is over, though.Hit calling was disgusting. I do not believe in “shoot’em till they call it!”. For one, I would run out of bb’s trying to get some of these terminators to call their hits. Two, that is how people get hurt, and leads to overshooting of players who are playing fair. A few bad apples ruin it for everyone, as other players start refusing to call hits from players who should be out, it becomes an epidemic. What I do believe in is referee action. Remove the bad apples from the game so the rest of us can have a good time. I didn’t complain to authorities at the game because we had one single referee/admin who had no way of knowing what was going on at every place at every moment.

I do end up staying away from smokers at games. As a non-smoker, it makes me nauseous and starts headaches. I'm not saying you can't smoke, but please be considerate and don't light one up in the midst of everyone.
Re: SQA, Sept. 14th
As a smoker, I will be much more mindful of where I choose to smoke at games. Sorry for the lack of consideration if I effected anyone around me with my nasty habit.

This. It bothers my allergies but honestly, if someone lights up and it is bothering me, I move. We are in the outdoors, there is plenty of room.captainkirk05 wrote:I do end up staying away from smokers at games. As a non-smoker, it makes me nauseous and starts headaches. Re: SQA, Sept. 14th
Oh my oh my, I am kind of glad I was sick and didn't show. What I am about to say may offend some, but I am not much for playing patty cake. So if it offends you, my bad, you will get over it. Not every game is gonna be your perfect situation and style that you love. Especially for a 10 buck pick up style game. What else could you do for a good portion of a day for ten bucks that is fun? NOTHING. It was listed as skirmishes, and so it was.
As noted above I was not there, so I can not really make a statement on who shot who in the parking area. But let's be real here. If we booted everyone who has fired there aeg in the staging area, or popped a shot at a friend how many would be left?
I have been with the AOSC since the idea started years back, and really love this game. You can ask around, I played every weekend somewhere, and probably played more games a year than just about anyone here. Over the past year though the amount of whining about how games are not to peoples satisfactory has really taken it's tole on me. A lot of players have no idea how much time REPS spend on some of these games for you guys. Some a few hours, some a few weeks, some even months planning, videos, building bridges with other states so games like TDC could happen. And what do we usually get in return? Nothing but grief. Last time I checked, this is still a SEMI free country, if you don't like the games then don't come.
