The "Jackhammer"
The "Jackhammer"
Yesterday night I overheard some air soft talk at a restaurant. They spoke of an AEG build that supposedly beats p* into the dust. And I know for a fact those things kick some major ass whenever I see them used. They called it that jackhammer. I googled it, and couldn't find anything. I was so desperate in fact, I went to the second page of results on Google. And that's saying something. I saw a comment on a Facebook photo mentioning a guy known as TooTall. I did some snooping around, looking for some stuff about him or that he had done, but couldn't find anything by him. I did stumble across a youtube channel with a few shoddy videos. One of which was about 7 seconds long, and appeared to show him emptying a midcap in just a second or two. This gun made the most beautiful sound I had ever heard. I would like to know more about this guy. Especially his jackhammer build. Any details would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The "Jackhammer"
Well, I can't comment on any gun called the Jackhammer, and I'd consider myself in the know about anything at the rumored level of performance that this gun has. But I can make a few comments regarding the topic.
1) An AEG build cannot beat a P* into the dust. At best, it can match performance, yet the time, money, and effort does not match the reliability of the system. And to have an AEG system set up in such away would cost more money, and have more parts that it would not compare to a P*. It's a simple fact. Yes, P* have their ups and downs, but this is not the thread for such discussion comparing the two systems. If you want a low down on the systems, ask, but for now, you can take my word that a P* system is superior to the AEG.
2) I have never heard of the Jackhammer. The fact that google returned nothing should say something about that. Even the most tightly guarded secrets show up somewhere. Again, it's unlikely such a device would exist without myself having absolutely no knowledge of it. I do spend all day on the back bone of the airsoft internet.
3) The only fellow I know of uses a name called TooTall is someone who calls himself TooTallTom. While not a bad man, he is not someone who would be in a position to create such a weapon, or does he have what he needs to make such a weapon. Not to say he might not be able to, but, from memory, he's more of a sniper/collector fellow, than an AEG tech.
4) Do you have links to said videos? Emptying a midcap in just a second or two would imply anywhere from 60-120rps. Knowing the limits of the system, it can't be over 90rps, unless it's simply not feeding. In the same breath, the midcap could be a lowcap/realcap that he's emptying at 30-40rps. Hard to say really, not without seeing the video.
5) Can you define "the most beautiful sound"? It's very subjective, and what might sound nice to one person could sound awful to someone else. As you said the video quality was bad, poor sounds could have been masked from the quality of the videos, especially as short as 7 seconds.
That's about all I have, my thoughts are that this jackhammer is something someone created and is toting it around as something greater than it really is. Or, it is nothing more than a rumor. Perhaps it was a named rifle that at one point gained the reputation for taking out a certain P* user, and that reputation simply grew to legendary status. Could be a great many different things, there are innumerable ways that a rumor like this could have been started.

My money is on the people you overheard not knowing what they were talking about.

There's no kill switch on awesome!
Re: The "Jackhammer"
That sounds like it's not even 50 RPS...
So, yeah, I'll take my winnings now.

Re: The "Jackhammer"
Time for some bragging
Some of you will remember my 417. A shame I never actually got the video of the chrono or actual clocked rps.
And this morning, I grabbed this video. Partially for this thread, partially because I was curious if it'd feed. Yes, it's a loud, angry monster.

Re: The "Jackhammer"
dang Kory... that thing sounds nasty! You should build a minigun body and put that in there haha. It would be more effective than the current miniguns on the market.

Re: The "Jackhammer"
Good heavens.
Do you pretty much have to use a modded mid-cap with that kind of RPS? Or, will some flash mags/Hi-caps work for a while? (I'm sure they wouldn't through the whole spring cycle, but maybe for the beginning when the tension is highest, even then I guess it would struggle to pull BB's from the well.)

I had no problems with hicaps at 51RPS

That it would. But nah, I like my DSG in the itty bitty body it's in now. Lots of bark, and a little bit less of a bite. This sucker is probably the loudest gun I have ever shot.2nd Ranger wrote:dang Kory... that thing sounds nasty! You should build a minigun body and put that in there haha. In that vid, I actually used the stock midcap that came with the gun. I tested a G&P mid as well, and it was able to feed just as well. I haven't tried high caps at the 62rps, but they didn't have any trouble at the normal 50rps that I usually use the gun. And both mags did work for the whole duration of the mag. I'll have to test if the high caps I have feed that fast later.jesus_freak wrote:Good heavens.

Awesome! feeding is almost always the biggest, or maybe I should say most persistent issue I deal with in builds. (not that I've done anything on that scale) clearly it's got nothing to do with ROF! hahaStar_folder wrote: In that vid, I actually used the stock midcap that came with the gun. If you want the best you need to buy a PTW.
