State of Airsoft
Re: State of Airsoft
On my phone, so two quick things.
Nobody is telling anyone to leave. Correct me if I'm wrong.
As to team forums: virtually every active team in the state has a private forum on here, and a public thread for advertising and open discussion.

Re: State of Airsoft
Having read through most of the posts here I have come to one conclusion. ATL, you are a moron. You seemt o want to complain for teh sake of complaining. While I liked Robin and appreciate all of the work he did in running games, his games were all the same. Find the missle parts, assemble the missle, take missle to the enemy base. I would put any game Ninja has run in the past year again any of Robin's games. Saying that Ajax runs the forum shows how little you know. I was a rep looooong before I was on AJAX. Heck, I've probably been on 4 teams since I've been a Mod here. Before you start spouting off about things you don't know about maybe you should do a little research.

Re: State of Airsoft
Now that I got that out of the way. The state of airsoft in SC is better than when I first started playing here almost 3 years ago(Can't believe it's been that long). I think the games have improved and I think there are some quality teams in SC. Compared to NC thought we are simply outclassed. They have many more organized teams that have their acts together. They also have a lot of ex-military members and contractors. Some of them train the military in tactics, and get asked to be OPFOR for events like the Army's Warrior of the Year competition and Law enforcement training. North Carolina also hosts real mil events that are invite only. I enjoy playing games in SC, but also like going to out of state national events, because those games are simply a different level.

Re: State of Airsoft
I think one thing that makes us not as high quality as nc because we have about half the poplulation

Re: State of Airsoft
Again ATL you post just to see yourself type. Have you been to NC and played in any games? Do you know the teams up there? The majority of players in SC are much younger than the average player in NC. The NC player base if much more mature and far more organized team wise. As I stated above, which you apparently didn't get is that they have a lot more prior military or active military players. Their teams are far more organized than ours and they travel to national games. Most of the big name teams have made trips to events like Pine Plains, Irene, Oklahoma Invasion, just to name a few. One of the reasons that a few of us that are on AJAX now were part of a NC team for awhile is because we wanted a team that would travel to out of state games and had connections to the major production groups, ie Lion Claws.
Rather than just posting what you think, without anything to back it up why don't you take some time and do some research so it isn't so obvious you don''t know what you are talking about. Population has nothing to do with the quality. It's the actual player base that they do have. Considering I am one of the few players from SC that has an open invitation to go to the Real Mil's, have been invited to participate as the OPFOR for the Army's Soldier of the Year competition the last 2 years by one of the best teams in NC, and have played as many games in NC as anyone in the state of SC over the last 3 years I think it's safe to say I know what I'm talking about.

Re: State of Airsoft
That is fine, can we get boarder land support as well for the people in Savannah/Ft. Stewart region if they deem interest? How about people in Augusta? Also I think this is a strong selling point for the community and should be pointed out in the event we start trying to really have a diving campaign to grow Airsoft.SteevoLS wrote:On my phone, so two quick things.

Re: State of Airsoft
Mark, anyone from anywhere is free to post games on this forum. We had the organizer of the a game in OK post his game in this forum under the Non-AOSC events. Anyone in GA is free to post their games up here as well, but we aren't going to do the work for them and go to the GA forums and copy the games and post them up here for them. Now, if someone PM's someone and asks them to post a game up I would be happy to do that for them if they send me the game info, but honestly it's just as easy for them to post it up.

Re: State of Airsoft
Jason is correct here. We have an official AOSC games section, and a non-AOSC section. We don't really need any more than that, and I'm sure if they were posted up in the non-AOSC section they would get some increased traffic.

the more and more sub folders created, the less and less people really look.

I am going to make two points here, that I have before clearly, and add a third statement.Gambler wrote:Mark, anyone from anywhere is free to post games on this forum. 1. We have nearly no motivation, team cohesion or drive in the coastal region from NC to GA. Notable acception being Slick who really is fighing a up hill battle through a mud slide.
2. Minus North Carolina the whole South East is barely alive in terms of cohesion and drive. I frankly believe this is less to do with the capability, and class of people (especially here in SC) then being ok with the status quo. If everyone in SC is happy to stagnate and not push things fine. It isn't that we don't have enough players, or fun people to play with, so that isn't the issue. I have in the last two months fielded 3 new people over the age of 20 looking for info about SC airsoft, and the state of airsoft so to speak in Airsoft.
The point with the boarder regions is to get interest, and people influxing from GA to our games, which people are far more interested in doing if there is some kind of welcome matt laid out. Just posting games is what everyone does, and when you have good games thats fine. SC is a unknown for most people(out of state), in a unknown land, with unknown game quality. We have had great games and poor games. Hell the convoy game if done right, and with enough players would be amazing. It would draw in people from states away, but to get that we need a strong foundation which NC has, Cali has, PacNW has, Ohio that controls 99% of the midwest. Are you getting the point?
If this community is fine plugging along and not really ramping things up then so be it, and I will stop posting suggestions and opinions. Frankly I am in Kuwait helping the one and only airsoft organization ramp up, working on milsim, and going to be OPFOR for Kuwait SWAT, plus hold a 12 hour a day job. If you think I am here bashing AJAX or whatever and feel the need to defend your buddies, that isn't my intent. I am here because of my honest interest, and bring my limited experince and vast organization skills in to help my state grow. If it isn't wanted or no one would like to relook at what we are doing I am happy to sit politely by. We are just about at the bursting point where we could grow or stagnate for another year or two. The spring is the time to get things rolling.
Frankly I think close knit, has also caused some closed boarder mentality. This is great for getting people motivated to a cause, but detrimental to expansion.
Re: State of Airsoft
Im still not getting where the idea that no new people are coming out to games is coming from. At every game I have attended, the attendance has had lots of people who haven't been to games before. I see all this talk from people saying things are going bad, Were too small, Yadda-yadda-yadda. Airsoft isn't paintball guys, its not mainstream, and until it gets more into the open, all it gets associated with the general public for is stupid kids pointing guns at cops. Sure, advertising may work, but like my other hobby of flying sailplanes, its a niche sport.
SQA does a good job of getting teens/parents to come out because of the way we do games. Simple "COD" Style gameplay, 30 minutes with re spawns, limited objectives, free gun rentals, ammo and lunch. Its a winning strategy for that age group. Very Few high school age kids want to go out to a field, play one solid game for 6 hours with 10 different objectives across a "huge" area. Personally, I like both types, and so I go to the AOSC games. I would imagine there are other groups like SQA within the state that for some reason haven't heard about the AOSC yet. Give it time. Spending money on advertising is silly when it could be better spent for other things.
In terms of more sub-forums I don't think that's needed. As it is, I only check for the new posts. The sub-forums we have include everything needed.

I am a bit of a jerk.
There have been a lot of games since the last fatality. Roses are red, violets are blue, so is your car at 102

No problem Gambler I think AJAX has gotten a lot of shit, but you guys may "defend" yourselves a little overzealously. Not taht I don't blame you guys for doing that. The guy in charge usually gets the most crap for no reason.
buttontk - I don't think it is a case of people not coming, its a case of not getting new recruits in which help advance the community.
I also disagree with COD comparison for games. I think short games can be fun, but if you get a group of people running a few hour game, and trickle in new people to learn you will get them to enjoy it. In mass new people do get drawn to the short games, but those will get old after a while and more complicated situations spice things up, which is why many of us travel for weekend games.

If we had any more traffic on the forum, I wouldn't come here nearly as much. Forums get too crowded very quickly.
