As some people might have noticed during the last few games I've attended, nobody can understand what I'm saying over the radio. Initially thought to be a PTT cable or microphone issue, I have discovered that my motorola SABER II radio does not transmit properly.
Motorola has discontinued the SABER line and SABER repairs, so I need to look for a private party to repair my radio. Furthermore, the market for SABERs on ebay has dried up considerably, and programmers are hard to find (unless you count the unreachable Robin). That means that replacement is not an economical option.
I'm a little concerned about taking it to just anybody, though, as it is programmed to broadcast in the FRS/GMRS channels of 1-12 with no restriction on the ERP, which is illegal in the United States.
Any suggestions for repairs? I'd be willing to pay a reasonable rate to any private business or person with the knowledge and parts to repair this radio. If YOU want to give it a shot, send me a PM with an asking price, but know that I'll only pay a single person upon delivery of a working radio.
On another note, anybody have any other suggestions for radios other than Cobras or the SABER line?

Re: SABER radio repairs
if it wasnt for the illegal programming, i would suggest taking it to radio shack. We dont do repairs in store, but can send it out to a repair center which should be able to fix the problem
