Idea for a new fake bomb to be used in upcoming games.
First off let me explain that I am a huge DIY Electronics geek. I own a popular DIY electronics website and have tons of microcontroller boards to play around with at any given time. I have an idea for a new bomb objective that we could implement into future games.
This is a 2 part objective where there is a bomb and a bomb maker. The bomb maker would have the disarm code somewhere on his person and he would be identified by a small patch or identifying mark on his person. This could be a simple patch of cloth, fake scar, tattoo, or something similar. The subject would have to be captured or killed to revile the disarm code. Bonus points would be awarded for a live capture over a kill. At the time of capture or death the subject would turn over the code. The CO of Alpha would have a disarm key (physical key) that would power down the bomb, which would earn major points. The CO would have to be captured alive to give up the key.
The bomb would have a timer on it set to go off within a few hours of the game start unless disarmed or powered down.
I want to build an Arduino powered fake bomb that would only be able to be diffused by entering a code into a keypad which was obtained from the bomb maker or by turning the key which is held by the CO of the Alpha team. This would be a fairly simple project that would involve an LCD screen, high db micro speaker, lipo battery, keypad, LEDs, Arming key switch, and some prop explosives (C4 shaped blocks or PVC pipe) I am going to work up a prototype in the next few weeks.
What does everyone think?

I just made a few bombs myself for the last Blue Hole game, that used limit/set switches. Once the wires were cut the system opened up and went off, and the right wire cut off the alarm clock. Cheap (~25$ish) and pretty easy to make. I do like your idea a lot though.. PM some more of the details.

Have you thought about maknig some paper maschae (spelling) 155 shells with a box setup?

Some setup like this, but do a multi shell (so it isn't hand portable), and there you go. I was going to do something like this before kuwait but didn't. I think some 3 liter bottles cut and stacked would make a good base.

I ordered the high DB personal alarm speaker and a LCD screen today. Anyone have any ideas for the fake bomb type? C4, IED style ordinance , or some big PVC tubes with Nuclear or Bio Hazard labels all over it?

Nuclear is the easiest thing. Also, when you post up, be careful to show how it works... When I did my design it was inside a box. Well the defusing team broke the hinge, saw the wiring, and cut the correct wire. Make sure they can't get in period, and what you show/tell is only what we would see if we were defusing.

I am adding another element to this. The box, once placed will not be able to be moved and tampered with. I am adding an accelerometer to the mix that will trip the alarm if moved. This will "detonate" the device. So it must be disarmed in place.

It sounds like you've put a lot of work into this D0c. Once you get it completed bring it on out to the next game we have.

Well it's still 100% in development mode. I just have bits and pieces prototyped on my bench. Writing the code and merging it all together to work seamlessly will take me a few weeks at minimum. I have decided to theme it Nuclear style. But may go the biological route as well.

You should try and tie a fog machine in if you do the biological route. That would be awesome to have a big cloud of smoke come out if the bomb goes off or is defused improperly.

Well a fog machine would be hard to power if we were using it at a field like Blue Hole. But its an idea to consider
