Echo 1 G3 Piston Replacement

Post by Esteban » Sat Jan 05, 2013 11:36 pm

Hey guys,

For the first time in 5 years, I've stripped a piston.

My polycarb piston from my Echo 1 G3 has lasted 3 years, and it stripped today at that SGA game.

I'd like some advice on what components I should replace. I was considering the following:

- Piston

- Piston Head
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=4273

- Spring
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3523

I'd like the same setup I had earlier with the stock spring and parts.
Please give me any and all input for this. I don't run a high-speed setup. The motor is a TM EG1000 with stock JG gears, stock cylinder, stock cylinder head, stock nozzle...

Well I can comment on the piston. I had that same piston running in one of my M4's for 3 years with an M120 spring I took it out and looked at it and besides for maybe one or two very minor scratches it was in almost perfect condition!

I would recommend a piston with a few metal teeth on the pickup end. Given the weak spring and low RoF, you shouldn't need a metal piston head either.

SHS or Lonex piston should do nicely (around $10-20), matching polymer piston head ($5-10), and any M120 should get you back in business.

Should I look for a polymer piston head that's also ported?
